ABOUT

Alyse Gagnon is a Los Angeles based artist.

Her work celebrates the intersection of movement and inertia, hard and soft edges, and flowing form within each piece. After years of working with clay — both by hand and on the pottery wheel — she began a concentration on hand built, abstract pieces.

Darker pieces reveal unexpected planes and angles. Playful yet deliberate. Lighter pieces are exactingly formed to create contrasting shadows. Gentle slopes abut tight angles. Heavily inspired by organic shapes and scapes, Alyse’s sculptures evoke a sense of story, movement, and the natural world. A study and celebration of form and formation.

With her veteran creative director’s sense of what could be, Alyse explores shadow work and layers unseen, resisting the familiar in favor of excavation.

Available for commissions, collaborations, bespoke pieces and sets.
